So Spain have finally cast off the 'nearly man' tag and lifted silverware. I was happy for their goalkeeper Iker Casillas whom I rate extremely highly. I didn't think Germany looked dangerous once last night and Spain were very comfortable winners. The only time they've been tested in the knock-out phase was by a defensive Italian side. This Spanish side are also in general a pretty young group of players, they could go on and win more silverware in the years to come. They must be congratulated on playing good football as well as winning football throughout what was a very entertaining tournament. |

So Spain finally won something. I am stunned. I really thought they would yet again collapse and have a camp full of mistrust. However they played well and deserved to lift the trophy. |
