Biggest waste of money ever?

I'd like to hear your suggestions for who has been the biggest waste of money in recent footballing history. Coming off the back of Hernan Crespo's contract finally ending at the Bridge. He cost around £950k an appearance and each goal he scored for the club was around £1.3million. That is a staggering amount of money in anyone's book, even Chelsea's! Another Chelsea player who was a pathetic waste of cash was Winston Bogarde, what was he on, £40k p/w and played 11 times for the first team in his four year contract. Not a bad life if you can get it! |

This isnt as big a waste of money as Neil has shown above but... Thomas Gravesen & Bobo Balde of Celtic are on a combined total of £76'000 per week at Celtic and never play. They havn't done for years (Well Balde got a few games near the end of the season due to injuries). So the £10 million Celtic got for getting to the Champions league last 16, just under 40% (£3'952'000 combined wages over a year) of that went straight into the pockets of two players who not only didnt make a single appearance in the competiton, but only one of them made the bench a few times! |

At least Balde was good once for Celtic but I have to admit I haven't heard a thing about him lately. As for Gravesen, how bad a career is it when you are brought in to Real Madrid, don't settle and then can't even get a game either at Everton or Celtic! |

Every Celtic fan loved Balde (BOBO'S GONA GET YA) but when Martin O'Neill signed him on a 5 year contact at £36'000 a week, big Bobo decided to sit back, relax and take his cash! The reason you havn't heard about him recently is because when he was given the chance to Join Roy Keane at Sunderland his reply was "Why should I go down to Sunderland, when i can sit here and still earn my wages" from that moment on, Wee Gordy never plays him unless we have an injury crisis. |

£36k p/w to sit on ones bum - not a bad living. Sometimes I blame the player but if he is ready to go and the club signed him to that deal then sometimes I think that maybe they are partly at fault as well. |
