I would love to sit and eat a meal and swap stories with lots of people but to narrow it down to three I'd go with the following: Sir Bobby Robson - Has there ever been a guy who is loved as much as this man in the game and rightly so. Has managed at the top level and could tell some tales from Italia '90. Would be a joy and a privilege to spend an evening with him. Jose Mourinho - A relative newcomer to the game but what an impact. An old friend of SBR's who could regale us with interesting stories from his Chelsea days. Harry Redknapp - Been in the game for an eon and knows a lot. Another engaging character who'd be extremely interesting to talk to. I think the three of them would be a great conversation and would work well together. Who would you guys like to sit n chat football with? |

Here are my choices: Jock Stein - He was the Greatest manager in Celtics history and the first manager in the UK to Bring home the European Cup. Id love to speak to him about football, he was just so positive. I love this quote... "There is not a prouder man on God's Earth than me at this moment. Winning was important, aye, but it was the way that we have won that has filled me with satisfaction. We did it by playing football. Pure, beautiful, inventive football. There was not a negative thought in our heads. Inter played right into our hands; it's so sad to see such gifted players shackled by a system that restricts their freedom to think and to act. Our fans would never accept that sort of sterile approach. Our objective is always to try to win with style." George Best - Although he eventually drank himself to death, just imagine the stories he could tell you at a dinner table. He really was the ultimate and first ever Football Playboy. Zinedine Zidane - Since I would probably be in too deep a conversation with Jock, id have Zidane there to ask him 2 questions and tell him on piece of information. I know 2 of my 3 guests are now dead, but i would have loved that wee dinner party. Not too sure the guests would have got on with each other but still, would have been good. I'd go for some Chelsea legends - Jose, Terry and Dennis Wise - it'd be feisty! |
