The goalkeeper merry-go-round has started with Aston Villa having had a bid for American stopper Bred Friedel accepted by Blackburn Rovers. The veteran keeper is one of the Premiership's best and Blackburn's willingness to sell comes as a surprise. The fee looks set to be in the £2million range. The deal though is contingent on another deal going through - Paul Robinson's proposed move to Blackburn to replace Friedel. The fee in this one looks set for double that of the American he'd be replacing and most would say that Robinson isn't as good as Friedel. I am in that camp - this looks like a good move for Aston Villa who are getting a top class keeper for £2million and Blackburn are getting an out-of-form very good goalkeeper for double the money. Not a good start from Paul Ince in my view. |

Friedel is better than Robinson any day of the week. |
