Have any of you watched the Sheff derby today and incident of player sent off for kicking the drink bottle just after he had been substituted. He receives a ban, but think team retained 11 men on the pitch. Is this correct because he had already left the field of play, or should the sub have had to leave the field. Hi Noddy - they got it right. They didn't get the decision right with the first red card though! The player got sent off for an infringement off the field of play when he wasn't an active participant in the match. Therefore his red card cannot affect the playing personel on the pitch. |

Yep Mike Dean got it right but I think that the player is an idiot for doing what he did. |

Cracking game though. The ref had to send the player off for a clear second yellow but as has been said before - as he wasn't an active player on the pitch then Sheff Weds remained at XI men. I have seen subs sent off before for backchat to the 4th off and all that means is they then can't come off the bench. |
